Curriculum
As Baptist’s newest Internal Medicine Residency program, we offer a unique education and training opportunity in a hospital setting with hands-on experience and leading-edge technology. We are building a first-class learning and working environment through a highly focused, tailored program led by an energetic faculty that includes some of the brightest minds in the region.
Our institutional culture values the physician-led inter-professional care team, and we anticipate residents will interact regularly with medical students, pharmacy students, and nursing students. Additionally, we will develop group simulation and didactic activities that incorporate team-based care to ensure learners across the spectrum of healthcare professions learn to interact in high-functioning teams. This is the only medical residency program at BMH-NM, and as such, residents will have unfettered access to clinical experiences and procedural cases.
As the cornerstone to success of our program, didactic sessions will involve a lecture series modeled after the ACP’s MKSAP resources that will be presented daily. Additional lectures that will take place monthly include:
-
Morbidity / Mortality
-
Journal Club
-
Tissue and Tumor
-
Quality Improvement Series
-
High Value Care
-
Grand Rounds
-
Other Focused CME Lecture Series
Additionally, structured educational time will also include a daily case presentation that will provide an opportunity for residents to present for faculty, who will then facilitate discussion to assess residents’ acumen across all competencies.
Our residents will be fully prepared to practice medicine by mastering the required curricula, disciplines and technologies to succeed as internal medicine physicians.
