Odalys Estefania Lara Garcia, MD

Dr. Odalys Estefania Lara Garcia received her medical degree in her home county of Venezuela. Shortly after, she emigrated to the United States to continue her education. Prior to entering residency training, she spent a year on an internship with the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education, the body responsible for accrediting all graduate medical training programs for physicians in the United States. There, she collaborated with scholars in residency programs and participated in qualitative research for resident well-being. She completed residency training at Southern Illinois University and developed a strong passion for academic medicine. As a resident physician, Dr. Lara Garcia was awarded the Sergio Rabinovich, MD, award in recognition of outstanding performance. She is fortunate to call Oxford, Mississippi, her home since joining the core faculty in the Graduate Medical Education department at Baptist Memorial Hospital - North Mississippi. Special areas of interest both in clinical practice and research include health disparities, resident well-being and obesity.
