Estefania Lara Garcia, MD

Prior to entering residency training, Dr. Lara Garcia completed a year-long internship with the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), the organization responsible for accrediting graduate medical education programs in the United States. During her time at the ACGME, she collaborated with leaders and scholars in graduate medical education and participated in qualitative research focused on resident well-being.

She subsequently completed her Internal Medicine residency training at Southern Illinois University, where she developed a strong passion for academic medicine and graduate medical education. During residency, Dr. Lara Garcia received the Sergio Rabinovich, MD Award in recognition of outstanding performance.

Dr. Lara Garcia joined the Graduate Medical Education department at Baptist Memorial Hospital–North Mississippi as core faculty and has since made Oxford, Mississippi, her home. Her professional interests span both clinical medicine and medical education, with particular interests in health disparities, resident well-being, and obesity medicine.
