Samuel Harris, MD

Associate Program Director

Samuel Harris, MD is the Associate Program Director of the Internal Medicine Residency Program at Baptist Memorial Hospital - North Mississippi. Along with his APD position, he is on the Clinical Competency Committee, heads the Teaming pathway of the Clinical Learning Environment, and leads the quality and patient safety curriculum for the program. He is a Hospitalist at Baptist North Mississippi and helped establish the academic Hospitalist service. He has also undergone training and certification in healthcare informatics.

Although he spent his childhood and high school years in North Carolina and Rhode Island, he has deep family ties to North Mississippi. He decided to return to Oxford for undergraduate school at the University of Mississippi. He completed a B.S. in Biology and then continued on to medical school at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. Following graduation, he completed an Internal Medicine Residency at Baylor Scott and White in Temple, Texas. Hospitalist medicine was his primary interest during residency and upon finishing, he moved back to Oxford to work as a Hospitalist at Baptist Memorial Hospital. When not working, he spends time with his wife, Kacie, and their three children. He also enjoys dining in Oxford’s many great restaurants, running, playing golf or disc golf, and live music.
