Resident physicians have ultrasound opportunities in hand

Associate Program Director Jacob Whelan, MD, introduced resident physicians at Baptist Memorial Hospital – North Mississippi to the newest piece of technology available at the Oxford, Mississippi, program.
Three Butterfly IQ+ whole-body ultrasound probes were purchased as part of funding to start the Internal Medicine residency, and are designed to make ultrasound easy to use.
They use chip technology to allow for more access and broader availability to handheld portable ultrasounds. On each probe, there are 6 imaging modes and 22 presets, including B-mode, M-mode, color Doppler, power Doppler, pulsed wave Doppler, and biplane. Presets include lung, cardiac, abdomen, and more.
A Butterfly IQ+ representative will offer further training during a virtual session on Wednesday, February 23, 2022.
