First Class of BMH-NM Resident Physicians Launch CareersÂ

The 12 founding resident physicians of the first medical residency at Baptist Memorial Hospital – North Mississippi completed their training in June 2024 and are moving on to the next steps in their medical careers. A celebration was held on June 8, 2024, at The Inn at Ole Miss, where faculty, support staff, families, and loved ones gathered to mark the milestone. The evening’s agenda included remarks from Baptist North Mississippi CEO and Administrator Brian Welton, Baptist Memorial Medical Education Designated Institutional Official Dr. Anne Sullivan, Founding Program Director Dr. Seger Morris, and Program Director Dr. Estefania Lara Garcia. Founding members of the program also received special recognition, including those who played key roles in the application process for initial accreditation from The Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education. The ceremony provided a festive send-off for the pioneering graduates to enter independent practice or further their training. Details of their new locations and roles are included below:
Prior to graduation, four of the 12 trainees obtained board certification in Internal Medicine through the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine this Spring. Several of them also completed the American Board of Internal Medicine board certification exam, along with the remainder of the graduating class, in August 2024.
