Program Evaluation Committee Provides Guidance to Internal Medicine Residency
The Program Evaluation Committee for the Internal Medicine Residency Program at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi holds a broad range of responsibilities and meets monthly to provide guidance to the burgeoning program.
PEC members include:
- Seger Morris, DO – Program Director
- Jacob Whelan, MD – Associate Program Director
- Sumner Abraham, MD – Core Faculty
- David Duddleston, MD – Core Faculty
- Paul Levy, MD – Chief Medical Officer, BMH-NM
- Justin May, DO – Chairman, BMH-NM Department of Medicine
- Anne Sullivan, MD – Designated Institutional Official, Baptist Memorial Medical Education
- Bill Henning – CEO / Administrator, BMH-NM
- Sonia McKeithen - Assistant Administrator, BMH-NM
- Emery Newsom – Program Manager
- Once they begin their training, a resident physician will also sit on the committee.
The PEC’s responsibilities are:
- Acting as an adviser to the Program Director through program oversight
- Reviewing progress toward meeting the program’s self-determined goals
- Guiding ongoing program improvement, including the development of new goals, based upon outcomes
- Reviewing the current operating environment to identify strengths, challenges, opportunities, and threats as related to the program’s mission and aims
The PEC considers various elements in its assessments, including curriculum and quality and safety of patient care. As the program matures, the committee will also consider outcomes from prior Annual Program Evaluation(s), any notifications from the Accreditation Council of Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), as well as faculty evaluations, professional development, and well-being. The group’s focus on resident physicians will include well0being, recruitment and retention, workforce diversity, surveys and evaluations, achievement of the ACGME Internal Medicine Milestones, and much more.
