Lecture spotlights physician and trainee wellbeing

Dr. Peyton Preece visited the program and delivered a presentation on achieving and maintaining wellbeing while in medical training and beyond. The lecture covered burnout, self-assessment, depression, and suicide, and gave actionable steps to prioritizing wellness, especially during the rigors of medical school and residency. He led those in attendance in an exercise to gauge their level of burnout and discussed the results and any changes that could be made. Dr. Preece is a Hospitalist and serves as the interim Program Director of the Internal Medicine Residency Program at Magnolia Regional Health Center in Corinth, MS.
