Potential new resident physicians have begun making their way to Oxford, MS, for official visits as the next Match season is in full swing. This group would begin their training in summer of 2025. 

The program received 2,434 applications on the first day that residency programs were able to view the submissions on Wednesday, Sept. 25. It has since grown to over 2,700 applications as of mid-November. Faculty recruitment committee members are reviewing the candidates' packets and offers are being made in waves for six in-person interview dates. 

The applicants experience a sampling of what the town, hospital, and surrounding areas have to offer during their visit. The first three interview dates brought 57 interested visitors, and the last three are scheduled on the following days: 

As in years past, current resident physicians host an event on the Oxford Square the evening before the interviews, which allows them to get to know their potential co-residents in a casual setting. On interview days, the prospective resident physicians spend the day in the hospital and in the Baptist Medical Group – Oxford Internal Medicine Clinic to learn about day-to-day flow, curriculum, attending didactics, and interviewing with program faculty and leadership. After a welcome breakfast and Town Hall session, they break into groups to progress through a schedule that rotates between interviews, hospital and clinic tours, a community preview session, and resident physician roundtables. The goal is to bring 120 applicants in person over the interview season. 

Any physicians on the general medical staff who are available are welcome to attend the informal breakfast meet-and-greets from 8:30 – 9:00 a.m. on each of the interview dates. We encourage you to mark your calendars and find time to meet them.
