Resident Physicians gathered at the Farmstead at Woodson Ridge in Oxford, MS, for their very first well-being retreat. The trainee-led committee planned events and learning sessions aimed at building comradery, fostering leadership, and bolstering wellness amidst the rigors of residency training, all while enjoying fellowship with each other away from work.

Set just on the outskirts of Oxford on over 100 acres surrounded by fields of flowers, the Farmstead offered a perfect backdrop for a relaxing, yet focused and intentional, weekend. The events kicked off on the evening of Friday, April 26, with dinner. An evening session entitled “Defining Wellness as a Resident Physician” was led by PGY2 resident physician and wellness committee lead Dr. A.J. Lynch. The night’s festivities ended around a bonfire.

On Saturday, April 27, resident physicians once again gathered for breakfast, followed by a “Professional Goal Setting and Accountability” talk provided by incoming Chief Resident PGY2 Dr. Zachary Ellis. After lunch, graduating resident physician Dr. Shravanti Muthu’s session focused on “Residents as Teachers Curriculum.

Throughout the weekend, many athletic abilities were displayed during games of pickleball, volleyball, frisbee, and cricket. A little relaxation was also provided in the form of chair massages.

The trainees enjoyed the time together and look forward to making this an annual event.
